Effort management
Effort system plays an important role in our management. Since many of us work in multiple teams, it's important to manage the following information explicitly.
- who is going to,
- how much
- work on which project
Effort is a triplet of these information.
Confirm and Update the effort information regularly
Effort information is stored in Notion DB. It's updated every month.
Best effort-oriented management over dealine-oriented management
Imagine, a person belongs to two teams and the supervisors of each team are different. In such situation, it's going to be difficult to estimate how much the person is able to spend time on which project from the leads' perspectives. As the result, overwork or underwork will be problems. This is a very common situation in many companies but surprisingly small amount of attention has been paid to solve this problem.
NABLAS, in contrast, has been keep paying attention to this problem. Effort management system on NABLAS has been designed to solve this problem exactly.
If the supervisors (leads) know how much effort the person is able to spend on the project, it's going to be easy to estimate how much achievement the person can produce. Remember, however, to make this system work well, both team leads and members should have some consensus about the expectation on achievements against efforts.
Hydrid work
Read NABLAS Hybrid work guideline carefully and Follow it
Obey the core time
The main purpose behind of having core time is to secure certain time to communicate closely. It's OK to start working before the core time but make sure to start before it. Finishing work is also the same.
Hiring
Evaluate candidates as your highest priority task
If a new candidate's information is posted, you have to put down your working tasks what ever it is. You spend several minutes to several ten minutes to check his/her resume, evaluate the candidate, then go back to your work.
If you belong to one of the technical positions (Researcher, Research Engineer or Software Engineer), it's mandatory to evaluate the candidates for these positions. There is no exception.
Taking annual paid leave
Inform about taking leave to your team members in advance
Follow the official process to take day off
You have to follow the official steps to take day-off if it's more than a single day off.

Taking "Refresh leave"
"Refresh leave" is a special paid leave system of NABLAS in addition to ordinary annual paid leave. There are some significant differences and your application won't be accepted if you don't follow the rules.
Post a report after taking
There are several important reasons to post a report. Encouragement is one of them. Your post actually encourages other members to take vacations. In addition, it's going to be a good opportunity for other members to know about you. These are not trivial reasons under our remote oriented working environment.
It's not necessary to make a long report but make sure to post something.
Should be taken 5 continuous business days
One of the most important reasons why NABLAS provides refresh leaves is to secure the work-life balance of employee. To do so, it's important to have a certain length of vacations in order to; take a deep rest, challenge to something, or traveling to somewhere.
